The Board of Tax Appeals (BoTA) successfully concluded its taxpayer education and engagement activities in Lofa County with a well-attended Taxpayers’ Education Workshop held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in Zorzor District.
The workshop brought together an impressive number of taxpayers, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders from across the district, creating an important platform for public education, dialogue, and interaction on tax administration in Liberia. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with BoTA representatives, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of the country’s tax dispute resolution framework.
During the workshop, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its statutory mandate of providing an independent and impartial forum for the resolution of tax disputes. In addition to resolving tax-related appeals, BoTA continues to prioritize taxpayer education by increasing public awareness of the Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights, the procedures for filing appeals, and the importance of due process within Liberia’s tax administration system.
The outreach initiative also emphasized the critical role taxpayers play in supporting national development through voluntary tax compliance. Participants were encouraged to become more informed about their rights and responsibilities while taking advantage of the Board’s services whenever disputes arise.
The successful conclusion of the Lofa County engagement marks another significant milestone in BoTA’s ongoing nationwide taxpayer education campaign. Through these outreach programs, the Board continues to strengthen public confidence in the tax appeal process, promote transparency, and contribute to the fair and equitable administration of Liberia’s tax laws.
The Board of Tax Appeals extends its sincere appreciation to the residents of Zorzor District, local authorities, taxpayers, and all stakeholders who participated and contributed to the success of the workshop. Their active engagement reflects a shared commitment to fostering a more informed, transparent, and accountable tax system in Liberia.
